Israel: Merchandise exports grow at a milder rate in February
Merchandise exports increased 9.0% annually in February, on the heels of January’s 17.8% upturn. Meanwhile, merchandise imports soared 27.8% over the same month last year in February (January: +29.8% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 3.9 billion shortfall in February (January 2022: USD 3.2 billion deficit; February 2021: USD 2.4 billion deficit). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 35.4 billion deficit in February, compared to the USD 34.0 billion deficit in January.
