Italy: Consumer confidence virtually unchanged in July
The consumer confidence index released by the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) edged up to 116.3 points in July from June’s 116.2 points. The reading came in above market expectations.
Consumers’ expectations of the future general economic situation deteriorated significantly, while their expectations of their future personal economic situation declined slightly. On the other hand, consumers’ assessments of the current general economic situation and of their personal financial situation improved. However, consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items and their unemployment expectations worsened.
