Italy: Industrial activity dips in September
Industrial output slid 1.8% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in September, which contrasted August’s 2.3% increase. The reading reflected a broad-based downturn across the major sectors, with manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning all contracting in September.
On an annual basis, industrial output decreased 0.5% in September, contrasting Augusts 2.9% expansion. Accordingly, annual average industrial production growth fell to 2.0% in September (August: +2.5%), which marked an over one-year low.
