Italy: Industrial output grows at fastest pace since December 2023 in May
Industrial production expanded 0.5% month on month in seasonally adjusted terms in May (April: -1.0% mom). The print marked the best reading since December 2023. May’s improvement was partly due to a rebound in manufacturing output. In contrast, mining and quarrying production decelerated.
On an annual basis, factory output fell at a quicker rate of 3.3% in May (April: -2.8% yoy). Moreover, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.5% in May, down from April’s minus 2.4%.
