Italy: Industrial production continues to expand at a solid pace in June
Industrial output expanded 0.5% in June on a month-on-month, seasonally-adjusted basis, following May’s revised 0.8% increase (previously reported: +0.7% month-on-month). June’s rise came on the back of an expansion in the manufacturing sector, which more than offset contractions in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning; and mining and quarrying sub-sectors. Within the manufacturing sector, the production of pharmaceutical products and means of transport posted the strongest performances.
On an annual basis, industrial production expanded 1.7% in June, decelerating from May’s revised 2.2% rise (previously reported: +2.1% year-on-year). Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output declined to 3.6% from May’s 4.0%.
