Italy: Industrial production expands again in August
Industrial output rose 7.7% in August on a month-on-month, seasonally-adjusted basis. The reading followed July’s 7.0% expansion.
August’s increase reflected a notable expansion in manufacturing production and rebounds in the mining and quarrying and utilities sectors. Within the all-important manufacturing sector, the largest increases were recorded in the production of textiles and transport.
On an annual basis, industrial production dipped 0.3% in August in calendar-adjusted terms, following July’s 8.3% slump. Meanwhile, the annual average variation in industrial production improved from minus 10.7% in July to minus 10.6% in August.
