Italy: Consumer prices record biggest decline since June 2016 in July
Consumer prices dropped 0.19% in July over the last month, swinging from the 0.10% increase seen in June. The reading was driven by falling prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages and housing. Prices for clothing and footwear also dropped.
Consumer prices fell 0.4% on an annual basis in July, edging down from June’s 0.2% fall. July’s reading marked the largest fall in consumer prices since June 2016. Meanwhile, the trend edged down with annual average inflation coming in at 0.1% in July, down from June’s 0.2%. Lastly, core inflation fell to 0.4% from June’s 0.7%.
