Italy: Harmonized inflation increases in September
Harmonized inflation came in at 5.6% in September, up from August’s 5.5%. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a softer pace in September, although prices for transportation increased at a stronger pace.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 8.8% in September (August: 9.1%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation edged down to 5.3% in September, from August’s 5.4%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 1.74% in September over the previous month, picking up from August’s 0.14% increase. September’s figure was the highest reading since October 2022.
