Italy: Inflation hits two-year high in April
Consumer prices rose 0.39% in April over the previous month, following March’s 0.29% rise. The pick-up was largely driven by rising prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Inflation came in at 1.1% in April from March’s 0.8%. April’s figure represented the highest inflation rate since April 2019. The annual average variation of consumer prices was flat in April (March: -0.1%). Lastly, harmonized inflation rose to 1.0% in April from March’s 0.6% increase.
