Italy: Pace of decline in annual prices moderates in October
Consumer prices rose 0.20% month-on-month in October, contrasting September’s 0.68% fall. The figure mainly reflected higher prices for regulated energy products and for unprocessed food.
Meanwhile, prices were 0.3% lower from the same month of the previous year, following September’s 0.6% year-on-year drop.
Core consumer prices, which exclude more volatile categories such as unprocessed food and energy, dipped 0.1% from the previous month in October, following September’s sharper 0.8% plunge. Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up from 0.1% in September to 0.3% in October, while harmonized prices fell 0.6% compared the same period of 2019, following September’s 1.0% drop.
