Japan: Consumer confidence improves in October
Consumer confidence came in at 35.7 in October, up from September’s 35.2. However, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold, signaling sustained pessimism among consumers.
Consumers became less pessimistic about the next year regarding their overall livelihoods, income growth and willingness to buy durable goods, driving a slight improvement in the index. However, consumers became more pessimistic about their employment prospects.
