Japan: Consumer confidence picks up in April
Consumer confidence rose to 35.4 in April from March’s 33.9. April’s result marked the best reading since February 2022. Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 50-threshold, indicating pessimism among consumers.
All four subcomponents of the consumer confidence index rose in March. Consumers became less pessimistic about the next 12 months concerning their income growth, employment, overall livelihood and willingness to buy durable goods.
