Japan: Consumer sentiment rises to over one-year high in March
Consumer confidence came in at 33.9 in March, up from February’s 31.3. March’s result marked the best reading since February 2022. Consequently, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold, indicating pessimism among consumers.
All four subcomponents of the consumer confidence index rose in March. Consumers became less pessimistic about the next 12 months concerning their income growth, employment, overall livelihoods and willingness to buy durable goods.
