Japan: Industrial output growth speeds up in October
Industrial output expanded 1.3% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in October, which was above September’s 0.5% increase. The figure was largely due to faster growth in manufacturing production. In contrast, mining output fell.
On an annual basis, industrial output rebounded, rising 1.1% in October (September: -4.4% yoy), the best result since May. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at a two-year low of minus 1.2% in October, down from September’s minus 1.1% reading.
