Japan: Industrial production declines at fastest pace in five months in June
Industrial production contracted 1.8% on a month-on-month and seasonally-adjusted basis in June, following May’s 0.2% decrease. June’s decline was bigger than market expectations of a 0.4% drop.
On an annual basis, industrial output fell 0.9% in June, contrasting the 4.2% expansion registered in May and representing the lowest print since November 2016. Annual average growth in industrial production ticked from 3.7% in May to a one-year low of 3.2% in June.
