Japan: Core inflation limps lower in September
The core consumer price index declined 0.1% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in September, contrasting August’s 0.1% uptick.
Core inflation fell from 0.5% in August to 0.3% in September. As a result, inflation remained well below the Bank of Japan’s inflation target of 2.0%. Meanwhile, overall inflation dropped from 0.3% to 0.2%.
Core inflation in the Ku-area of Tokyo registered 0.5% in September. Data for October will be released on 29 October.
