Japan: Inflation falls to lowest level since June 2022 in December
Inflation came in at 2.6% in December, down from November’s 2.8%. December’s result marked the weakest inflation rate since June 2022.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.2% in December (November: 3.4%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 2.2% in December, from the previous month’s 2.5%.
Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.09% in December over the previous month, a less pronounced drop than November’s 0.22% drop.
