Kazakhstan: Industrial production accelerates in May
The industrial sector expanded at the quickest pace in eight months in May, growing 6.4% year-on-year compared to an annual expansion of 4.5% in April.
Looking at a breakdown of the sub-sectors, the acceleration was driven by a notable surge in mining output and a rise in electrical supply, gas, steam and air conditioning. On the other hand, the manufacturing sector grew at a slightly slower pace, while the water supply, sewerage system and waste management sector contracted at broadly the same rate as the previous month.
Annual average growth in industrial production declined from 6.5% in April to 6.2% in May.
