Kazakhstan: Industrial production growth climbs in September
The industrial sector accelerated markedly in September. Industrial output grew 5.5% year-on-year in the month, up from August’s 1.9% expansion.
A breakdown of the sub-sectors showed an across-the-board improvement. The manufacturing sector grew at the fastest rate, followed by the mining sector. Both sectors saw a notable upturn in growth. While the water supply, sewerage system and waste management sector also sped up, the pace of expansion was tepid in comparison. Meanwhile, contraction of the supply of electricity, gas and steam eased from the previous month.
Annual average growth in industrial production inched down to 4.5% in September, from 4.6% in August.
