Kazakhstan: Industrial production loses steam in June
The industrial sector lost pace in June, growing at a more moderate 4.2% year-on-year following a 6.4% annual expansion in the previous month.
A breakdown of the sub-sectors revealed an across-the-board slowdown. The mining sector lost the most speed, followed by the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector. Meanwhile, the pace of expansion of the manufacturing sector moderated only slightly. Meanwhile, the water supply, sewerage system and waste management sector contracted at a sharper rate compared to last month, the sector has been contracting throughout the whole year.
Annual average growth in industrial production edged down to 5.9% in June from 6.2% in May.
