Kazakhstan: Decline in industrial output softens in August
Industrial output dropped 5.6% compared to the same month of the previous year in August, falling at a less pronounced rate than July’s 9.6% plunge.
August’s weaker decline was largely driven by a softer drop in mining and quarrying output and a rebound in manufacturing production. That said, the electricity, gas and steam supply sector swung to contraction.
Meanwhile, the trend continued to deteriorate, with annual average industrial production growth falling to 2.0% in August (July: +3.0%).
