Kazakhstan: Inflation inches up in April
Consumer prices increased 0.5% over the previous month in April, matching March’s print. April’s upturn in prices was led by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by a rise in healthcare costs.
Meanwhile, inflation inched up to 4.9% in April, from March’s over three-year low of 4.8%. Lower fuel costs curbed upward pressure from rising food costs, keeping inflation largely stable in the past three months. Lastly, annual average inflation fell slightly, from 5.6% in March to 5.5% in April.
