Kazakhstan: Inflation inches up in August
Consumer prices rose 0.2% over the previous month in August, marking a slightly larger rise than the 0.1% increase in July. Prices rose nearly across the board, with only prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreasing in the month.
Inflation came in at 6.0% in August, slightly above July’s 5.9%. Inflation is at the mid-point of the Central Bank’s target range of 5.0%–7.0%. Annual average inflation inched down to 6.6% in August from 6.7% in July, which marked the lowest print since December 2015.
