Kenya: Inflation jumps in October
Consumer prices rose 0.28% over the previous month in October, contrasting September’s 0.11% dip. The food and alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics subsectors saw the steepest price increases in the month.
Inflation jumped to 5.0% in October, from September’s 3.8% which had marked a 17-month low. Thus, inflation landed on the midpoint of the Central Bank’s 2.5%–7.5% target rate. Lastly, annual average inflation was unchanged from September’s 5.2%.
