Kenya: Inflation rises in October
Inflation came in at 6.9% in October, up from September’s 6.8%, unexpectedly reaching a three-month high. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices rose at a quicker pace in October compared to the previous month, and price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels also picked up pace.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 8.1% in October (September: 8.3%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 1.03% from the previous month in October, after the 0.97% increase logged in September. October’s result marked the highest reading since April 2022.
