Kenya: Inflation increases in February
Consumer prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.70% in February over the previous month, accelerating from January’s 0.63% increase. Looking at the details of the release, the result was chiefly due to higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as for transportation. However, the overall increase was capped by lower prices for restaurants and accommodation services.
Inflation came in at 5.8% in February, slightly above January’s 5.7%. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.2% in February (January: 5.3%).
