Kenya: Inflation remains stable in August
Consumer prices rose 0.20% in seasonally-adjusted month-on-month terms in August, accelerating from July’s 0.08% increase. August’s reading largely reflected higher prices for transport, restaurants and accommodation services. The increase was partially offset by lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and education.
Inflation remained unchanged from July’s 4.4% reading in August, still at its lowest rate since September 2019. Annual average inflation dropped to 4.9% in August from July’s 5.3%.
