Kenya: Inflation rises further in April
Consumer prices rose 1.69% month on month in April on a seasonally-adjusted basis, markedly up from March’s 0.85% increase, and marking the strongest increase in over two years. Looking at the details of the release, the acceleration was due to spiking prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as for transport.
Inflation jumped to a six-month high of 6.5% in April, up from March’s 5.6%. Consequently, annual average inflation rose to 6.1% in April (March: 6.0%).
