Korea: Consumer confidence eases in September
Consumer confidence came in at 99.7 in September, down from August’s 103.1. As a result, the index moved below the 100-point threshold, pointing to pessimism among consumers.
The decrease in the index was due to falls in all of its subcomponents: households’ views on the economy and living standards in the present and 12 months ahead, as well as their views on income and spending 12 months ahead.
Meanwhile, consumer expectations for inflation a year ahead were stable at August’s 3.3% in September.
