Korea: Consumer confidence picks up but remains in negative territory in April
Consumer confidence rose to 95.1 in April from March’s 92.0. April’s result marked the best reading since June 2022. Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 100-point threshold, pointing to still-negative sentiment among consumers.
The increase in the index was due to households becoming less pessimistic about the economy and their living standards in the present and 12 months ahead.
Consumer expectations for inflation a year ahead stood at 3.7% in April (March: 3.9%).
