Korea: Consumers become optimistic in June
Consumer confidence rose to 100.7 in June from May’s 98.0. June’s result marked the best reading since May 2022. As a result of the uptick, the index rose above the 100-point threshold, pointing to mild optimism among consumers.
The increase in the index was mostly due to households becoming less pessimistic about the economy in the present and 12 months ahead.
Consumer expectations for inflation a year ahead were stable at 3.5% in June.
