Korea: Consumers’ sentiment worsens in March
Consumer confidence fell to 100.7 in March from February’s 101.9. With the downtick, the index moved closer to the 100-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among consumers.
Looking at a breakdown, consumer sentiment worsened with regard to the current and future states of their living conditions and with regard to the present condition of the economy.
Despite the downtick, over Q1 as a whole, consumer sentiment averaged at the second-highest level in two years, likely boosted by lower inflation and boding well for private spending in the quarter.
