Korea: Inflation holds steady in March
Inflation came in at 3.1% in March, unchanged from February’s figure. Looking at the details of the release, prices for housing and utilities rose at a quicker rate in March. Moreover, prices for transportation increased at a stronger pace. Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages prices grew at a softer pace.
The trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.2% in March (February: 3.3%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 2.4% in March, from February’s 2.5%.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.15% in March over the previous month, slowing down from February’s 0.55% increase.
