Latvia: Economic sentiment decreases in June
Economic sentiment fell to 97.3 in June, down from May’s 97.6. June’s result marked the weakest sentiment since January. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the industrial sector and improving services-sector confidence. That said, June marked weaker sentiment in the construction and retail sectors. Finally, consumer confidence waned in June.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index rose in June.
