Latvia: Economic sentiment eases in July
Economic sentiment came in at 95.9 in July, down from June’s 97.1. July’s result marked the worst reading since November 2023. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected declining sentiment in the industrial and retail sectors plus softer confidence in the services sector. Meanwhile, July marked stronger sentiment in the construction sector. Finally, consumer confidence remained unchanged in July.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index fell in July.
