Lithuania: Economic growth accelerates in Q4
According to a flash estimate released by the Statistical Institute on 30 January, the Lithuanian economy ended last year on a strong note. GDP expanded 3.9% in Q4 over the same quarter in the previous year, above the revised 3.2% increase in Q3 (previously reported: +3.1% year-on-year).
Healthy growth came on the back of strong performances across the construction and industrial sectors, wholesale and retail trade, the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and the accommodation and food service sectors.
In quarter-on-quarter and seasonally- and working-day adjusted terms, GDP increased 1.5% in Q4, the highest print in 2017. It was significantly above the revised 0.4% growth in Q4 (previously reported: +0.1% quarter-on-quarter). For 2017, economic growth reached 3.8%, a notable acceleration from the 2.3% expansion in 2016.
A more detailed breakdown of the Q4 result will be released on 1 March.
