Lithuania: Industrial output expands at quickest pace since April in December
Industrial output increased 26.5% compared to the same month a year earlier in December, which followed November’s 23.7% increase. The print marked the strongest rise since April. Looking at the details of the release, December’s pickup was broad-based. Manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning activity gained steam, while mining and quarrying production contracted at a softer rate.
On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose at a faster rate of 6.2% in December (November: +1.4% mom), the best result since May. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 18.7% in December (November: +16.8%). This signals an improving trend in the industrial sector.
