Lithuania: Industrial production growth moderates in December
Industrial production in Lithuania expanded 5.3% in December in annual terms, coming in below November’s revised 9.6% growth (previously reported: +9.0% year-on-year). December’s softer growth was nevertheless broad-based, coming on the back of a solid expansion in the manufacturing sector and an over 20% jump in the mining and quarrying sub-sector. In addition, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sector returned to growth in December.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production contracted 2.6% in seasonally and calendar-adjusted terms (November: +2.7% month-on-month). Nevertheless, the overall trend was largely unaffected, as annual average growth in December stood at 7.2%, marginally down from the prior month’s 7.3%.
