Lithuania: Inflation rises in May

Consumer prices increased 0.57% in May, softening from April’s 0.99% rise. May’s lower reading was largely attributed to softer price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Meanwhile, prices for housing and utilities tumbled over the previous month.

Inflation accelerated to 3.6% in May, well above April’s 2.5% increase and logging the highest inflation rate in over three years. Accordingly, annual average inflation came in at 1.2% in May, above April’s 0.9%. Lastly, harmonized inflation came in at 2.4% in April—the last month for which data is available—following the 1.6% annual rise in harmonized prices in March.
