Lithuania: Inflation ticks up in January
Consumer prices in Lithuania jumped 0.3% in January from the previous month, following December’s flat reading. According to the Statistical Institute, the figure largely reflected higher prices for petrol, as well as for accommodation, fuel and gas, which offset lower prices for clothing and footwear.
Inflation came in at 4.0% in January, marginally up from December’s 3.9%, with price increases for services outpacing the increase for goods for a tenth consecutive month. Meanwhile, harmonized inflation came in at 3.6% in January, down from December’s 3.8% and marking the lowest reading since June 2017. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation rose from 3.7% in December to 3.8% in January.
