Luxembourg: Harmonized inflation falls in January
Harmonized inflation fell to 3.0% in January from December’s 3.2%. The result was primarily driven by softer growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for transportation declined at a quicker rate.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.7% in January (December: 2.9%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 3.4% in January, from the previous month’s 3.5%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.44% in January over the previous month, largely in line with December’s 0.41% fall.
