Luxembourg: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since September 2023 in May
Harmonized inflation rose to 3.2% in May, up from April’s 3.0%. May’s figure represented the highest inflation rate since September 2023. The uptick was largely due to stronger increases in prices for transport, recreation, and housing and utilities.
Accordingly, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.7% in May (April: 2.6%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation ticked up to 2.6% in May from the previous month’s 2.4%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.06% in May over the previous month, below the 0.47% increase recorded in April. May’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
