Malaysia: Industrial output drops again in September
Industrial output decreased 0.5% year on year in September (August: -0.3% yoy). Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output bounced back in September, while mining and quarrying output swung to contraction. Meanwhile, electricity and gas output accelerated.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 2.8% in September (August: +1.7% mom), the worst result since April. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 1.6% in September (August: +2.6%), which marked an over two-year low.
