Malaysia: Industrial output rebounds in September
Industrial output increased 2.5% in year-on-year terms in September, which contrasted August’s 0.7% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing and electricity and gas output gained steam, while mining and quarrying production contracted at a softer rate.
On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose at a quicker rate of 4.1% in September (August: +2.3% s.a. mom), the best result since February. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 5.4% in September (August: +5.3%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.
