Malaysia: Inflation falls to lowest level since March 2021 in October
Inflation came in at 1.8% in October, down from September’s 1.9% and marginally below market expectations. October’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since March 2021. The reading was primarily due to slower growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which cooled to a 22-month low.
In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.9% in October (September: 3.1%).
Finally, consumer prices increased a seasonally adjusted 0.08% in October over the previous month, stable from September’s reading. October’s result marked the joint-lowest reading since August 2021.
