Malaysia: Inflation falls to over one-year low in June
Inflation came in at 2.4% in June, which was down from May’s 2.8%. June’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since April 2022. The moderation was broad-based, with lower price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, and transportation. Moreover, prices for recreation services and culture grew at a more subdued pace.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.7% in June (May: 3.8%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.15% in June over the previous month, mirroring May’s reading.
