Mexico: Consumer sentiment rises to 13-month high in January but remains pessimistic
Consumer sentiment rose to 44.2 in January from December’s 42.7. January’s result marked the strongest sentiment since December 2021. That said, the index remained entrenched below the 50-point threshold, indicating sustained pessimism among consumers.
Januarys upturn was driven by consumers becoming less averse to making large-ticket purchases. Additionally, expectations regarding consumers personal financial situations and the economy in the next 12 months also improved.
