Mexico: Inflation comes in at highest level since July in December
Inflation rose to 4.7% in December, following November’s 4.3%. December’s reading was the highest inflation rate since July. The result was driven by rising price pressures for food, beverages and tobacco and housing.
Annual average inflation fell to 5.5% in December (November: 5.8%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 5.1% in December, from the previous month’s 5.3%.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.71% in December over the previous month, picking up from November’s 0.64% rise. December’s result marked the highest reading since July 2022.
