Mexico: Inflation rises in February
Consumer prices rose 0.63% over the previous month in February, moderating from the 0.86% increase logged in January. Looking at the details of the release, February’s reading was largely driven by slower price growth for food and beverages, housing and transportation.
Inflation rose to 3.8% in February, from 3.5% in January—remaining within Banxico’s target range of 2.0%–4.0%. Meanwhile, annual average inflation held steady at 3.4% for the fourth consecutive month in February. Lastly, core inflation came in at 3.9% (January: 3.8%).
