Netherlands: Consumer confidence picks up in April
Consumer confidence rose to minus 14.0 in April from March’s minus 18.0. April’s result marked the strongest reading since March 2020. As such, the index moved closer to the 0-threshold, but still indicated pessimism among consumers.
The improvement reflected less downbeat views on the economy, with sentiment regarding the economic climate in the next 12 months returning to optimism for the first time since 2018. Views on the economic climate in the past 12 months turned less sour. In addition, attitudes towards willingness to buy turned less pessimistic.
